The Role
We are seeking a tenacious Account Executive who is a true hybrid. You will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of traditional PR campaigns, but you will also play a pivotal role in the agency's growth engine.
This role is roughly 70% Client Delivery and 30% New Business & Operations. You will not only secure top-tier coverage but also identify new prospects, pitch alongside the founder, and help refine our internal processes as we grow.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Delivery & Media Relations
Media pitching: Proactively pitch media (national, trade, and broadcast) to secure high-quality coverage for clients. You are expected to pick up the phone and get stuck in, not just send emails.
Content creation: Draft press releases, op-eds, briefing sheets, and thought leadership pieces with a sharp eye for detail and news value.
Account management: Serve as a reliable point of contact for clients, managing media lists, WIP (Work in Progress) reports, meeting agendas with follow up notes/actions, and critical paths to ensure we over-deliver on KPIs.
Monitoring: Scan newspapers, online news, and trade journals for mentions of clients, competitors, or relevant industry news to share. This is a morning task.
Newsjacking: Monitor daily news cycles to identify immediate opportunities to insert our clients into breaking stories.
Events & awards: Identify and pitch for events and awards if part of the client scope of work.
Out the box thinking: Being creative and thinking outside of the box in today’s fast-paced environment. News is reported differently today whether that be Instagram videos, walk & talk interviews etc...
2. New Business & Growth (Incentivised)
Lead generation: Actively research and identify potential clients who fit the agency’s niche and growth targets.
Outreach: Manage initial outreach campaigns to prospective clients (email, LinkedIn networking, and cold calling).
Pitch support: Assist in building pitch decks and proposals, bringing creative ideas to the table.
Social media support: Help with the Not Born Yesterday’s social accounts, creating content and growing our following across LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok.
3. Scaling the Agency
Operations: Help streamline agency processes (e.g., implementing new PR software tools, building media lists, refining reporting templates).
Strategy: Participate in internal strategy sessions on how to expand the agency’s footprint and improve efficiency.
Agency PR: Attend networking events, put NBY forward for awards, support in pitching the agency for podcasts and other media opportunities.
What You Bring to the Table
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a PR agency or in-house communications role.
The "Hustle": You aren't afraid of rejection. Whether it’s a journalist saying "no" or a prospect not replying, you have the resilience to keep pushing.
Media savvy: You consume news avidly and understand what makes a story land.
Writing skills & attention to detail: Impeccable grammar and the ability to adapt your tone for different clients and industries.
Time management: Agency life is fast paced. You will likely work on 3–5 different accounts simultaneously. You must be able to switch gears instantly (e.g., from a crisis meeting for Client A to writing an opinion piece for Client B) without missing deadlines.
Digital savviness: Proficiency with social media platforms (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, TikTok) is expected, as is the ability to use standard office software (PowerPoint, Excel) and PR-specific tools.
Entrepreneurial spirit: You want to understand the business of PR, including P&L, sales pipelines, and client retention.

Existing relationships with journalists.
Experience helping a previous company or team grow rapidly.
Managing up confidently to make sure things get done.
